The Architectural Review - Issue 1532

    האגם הגווע

    June 2026

As the online world presses up against the public realm, though physically present, people have retreated to the digital. This threat joins a roster of issues long eroding the urban experience, some of which are explored in three revisits of public spaces. From municipal buildings losing ground against real-estate forces in Hong Kong to interventions by the river in Ljubliana which exhibit ‘a curious resilience to commodification’. In Accra, a city historically suffering from a dearth of public spaces, a recent renovation suggests an alternative way forward. The issue also celebrates public spaces around the world recognised in the third edition of the AR Public awards.
